When creating, and indeed launching, Apricity we knew it wouldn’t be as simple as one person with a great idea…
That is, of course, how it all started, with Cathi’s love of technology and her passion to move financial services forward. However, as the saying goes, ‘teamwork makes the dream work’ and so we were always certain there would be a full support team behind her every step of the way.
In true Family Fortunes fashion, let’s meet the Apricity family…
As expected, heading up the company is Founder & Director Cathi Harrison along with two of her leadership colleagues from Para-Sols. They are Strategic Marketing & Engagement Manager, Natalie Bell and Client Relationship Manager, Kim Binks. Individually, Natalie is responsible for all things marketing and comms, as well as developing the staff culture and employee engagement initiatives – it’s important we start as we mean to go on. Kim is the direct line to our clients, driving more of them and making sure that we service the ones we have in a way that our competition doesn’t. Collectively, the three of them will drive forward the strategy to ensure we achieve our vision.
Another familiar face from Para-Sols is Technical Researcher, Caroline Pigg, who has moved across to Apricity full time and will be taking on the role of compliance support. Caroline gathered a range of experience in Para-Sols and ultimately was supporting the team on defined benefit cases, which we think will be very useful in her new role!
Recruiting new people was a particular challenge as we needed someone with previous compliance knowledge, but also with a creative skillset. Two qualities not often found together. The background knowledge is important to have but we needed our perfect candidate to unlearn everything they knew so we could create something truly different, and break the usual checkbox mindset. Let’s just say we kissed many frogs before we were fortunate enough to have found our new Compliance Manager, Paul Taylor. Paul brings with him over 20 years financial services experience and being in previous advisory roles, knows first-hand the frustrations of the current compliance regime. He’ll manage the team and share his wealth of knowledge, as well as working with the leadership team to make sure Apricity is at the top of its game.
Existing compliance officer, David Parker, has also joined the team and brings with him more financial services experience, with a particular emphasis on protection planning. Anyone who knows us well, knows we champion graduate talent into the profession and so last but not least, is Hannah Scott who recently graduated from the University of Law and will also be compliance support along with Caroline and David. She’s already sat, and passed, her RO1 so has hit the ground running!
Of course, we also have our advisory board too – compliance heroes Rory Percival, Karen Malin and Helen O’Connor – who as well as being part of the initial consultancy in creating Apricity, will continue to offer their advisory support on a regular basis. In addition, our adviser and supervisor training will be provided and delivered by Adam Owen.
If you’re curious and want to put a face to the names, then head over to ‘Who we are’ page and take a look, and if there’s anyone you know of (perhaps even yourself?) who’s looking for a new challenge and can help us shape a new path in compliance support, then tell them to get in touch.
